BSO starts campaign against domestic violence

The Broward Sheriff's Office today is launching a campaign it hopes will reduce domestic violence against women.

The campaign -- called "You Are Not Alone" -- will include a 30-second video, billboards, posters and purple lapel pins.

Women in Distress of Broward County Inc., which helps domestic violence victims, has joined with the Sheriff's Office.

Officials planned a news conference at Sheriff's Office headquarters to discuss the campaign.

In 2007, Broward County saw a 300 percent increase in domestic-related homicides against women, according to the Sheriff's Office.
