Dolphin Democrats call for Wilton Manors Commissioner's Resignation
Police say City Commissioner Ted Galatis admitted using a racial slur during a Sunday night traffic altercation, leading a Democratic group to call for his resignation.

After the police report was released Thursday, the Dolphin Democrats said Galatis should resign because using the N-word was "unacceptable." Galatis, a Republican who has announced he is seeking re-election in November for the nonpartisan position, said he has no intention of resigning.
Galatis was driving home from Publix about 8:15 p.m., followed by a car honking at him right up to his house, he told police. After confronting the other car's occupants, who were black, Galatis said a shirtless juvenile male got out of the car and right in his face and asked, "What's your problem, white boy?

The other driver, Lotoya Marie Pinkney, told police it was a different vehicle between her and Galatis honking at Galatis on Andrews Avenue after exiting Publix. That vehicle turned off after all three turned onto Northwest 29th Street, Pinkney said. She said she honked at Galatis because she had to slam on her brakes as he came to a sudden stop by his driveway.
Pinkney told police Galatis got out of his car and began yelling at her and her passengers. That's when they got out and exchanged words with him, with Galatis calling them the N-word, she told police. She said her son may have called Galatis "white boy," police said.
Pinkney told police she also told Galatis, "I'm going to have you arrested. I know who you are."
Police told her the words may have been inappropriate, but no crime appeared to have been committed.
Galatis' wife, Donna, was in their front yard at the time and heard the yelling. She told police the juvenile yelled at her "something along the lines of, 'I'll slice you up,' or, 'I could mess you up.'"
