Miami Marlins front office will Took part in the fourth annual Day of Civic Engagement on Friday, December 12, marking the second time this year the entire office closes for a full day of philanthropy and service in the South Florida community. The day begins at 9 a.m. at 2014 Marlins Charity Partner Young At Art Museum (751 SW 121 Ave., Davie, FL, 33325). The day will concluded at 4 p.m., tallying over $15,000 cash applied throughout the day in random acts of kindness.
“This tradition of closing down the entire front office for a full day of philanthropy, service and civic engagement is testimony of our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),” said Marlins President David Samson. “Marlins Blue Shirts have performed over 28,000 hours of service, and our Marlins Foundation has gifted over $5 million to charity. That’s impact.”
Following the visit to YAA, the Marlins’ front office will split into their Marlins Ayudan teams and disperse to 15 Broward County Public Schools. The teams will spend time with elementary school students and prepare holiday parties in select classrooms thanks to the partnership and generosity of Winn-Dixie, Inc. In addition, the teachers will receive gift cards to purchase supplies for the classroom, courtesy of the Marlins Foundation. Marlins Ayudan teams will also visit various Winn-Dixie store locations and perform random acts of kindness.
Civic engagement activities for the day are also extended to historically and culturally significant sites across Broward County. Marlins Ayudan teams will visit these locations identified via riddles and clues for this uniquely fun canvassing experience. The objective is to spread holiday cheer and connect Marlins professionals to the rich history and diversity of South Florida.
