Democratic activists, people running for office and others attended the Palm Beach County Awake the State Rally on Tuesday, March 3, at WPB City Hall/Library Plaza, at the corner of Clematis and N. Dixie Highway, at 407 Clematis St. in West Palm Beach. The event takes place every year as a way for people to express their views on the Florida Legislative Session which began the same day. The event had great speakers, cheers, serenades by the South Florida Raging Grannies, information about upcoming legislative priorities and more. Speakers included West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio, West Palm Beach Commissioners, and others. Other companion events were held throughout the State of Florida. Florida's Awake the State is a grassroots movement that began in 2011 to express people's frustration with Governor Rick Scott and has continued up to the present day. Awake the State is made up of Floridians from every walk of life including educators, healthcare workers, police and firefighters, advocates for consumers, middle class families and more.
