Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying an armed robber who ambushed an elderly woman in an elevator, held her at knifepoint and stole her purse. Security cameras captured the crime and the robber’s failed attempt to flee the elevator once the doors closed.

At approximately 9:34 p.m. on April 29, Loraine Bain stepped into an elevator and was taken aback when a man rushed in behind her. The man took out a knife and demanded the victim hand over her purse. The victim complied. The man turned to leave but walked directly into the elevator doors which had already closed. Eventually, he got out of the elevator on the fourth floor and fled down the stairwell.

Detectives are looking for a black male with a medium build, approximately 6’2” tall and a short haircut. He wore dark clothes, dark sunglasses and a dark baseball hat with an “A” on the front. The knife was a standard kitchen knife.
