Chairman Deutch Introduces Bipartisan Resolution Condemning Iranian Persecution of Baha'is
Today, U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch (D-FL), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East, North Africa, and International Terrorism, introduced a resolution condemning Iran’s human rights violations, particularly its persecution of its Baha’i minority, and urging the Administration to impose sanctions against the Iranian regime for its human rights abuses.
The resolution was introduced with U.S. Reps. Joe Wilson (R-SC), Eliot Engel (D-NY), Michael McCaul (R-TX), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Chris Smith (R-NJ), Brad Schneider (D-IL), Steve Chabot (R-OH), Gregory Meeks (D-NY), and Ann Wagner (R-MO).
"The Iranian regime has an egregious record of human rights violations against its own people, including denying freedom of religion and persecuting minorities like the Baha'i," Congressman Deutch said. "These actions violate the principles and values for which our country stands. This bipartisan resolution condemns Iran's state-sponsored persecution of the Baha'i people and calls for the regime to end its unjust repression of its own people."
