Children of all ages will be receiving new books on Thursday, April 22nd when Broward County Mayor Ken Keechl participates in the “Art Books for the Children” book giveaway at the Richard Sullivan Library - 500 NE 26th Street, in Wilton Manors beginning at 4:00 p.m.
Altogether more than 350 books will be distributed to seven children’s organizations in Broward County.
“Arts education is a rarity in the classroom. This program puts books into the hands of children who might not otherwise be exposed to the cultural arts,” said Mayor Keechl. “You never know what might spark the imagination and creativity of a future artist.”
“Art Books for the Children” is a community outreach program organized by ArtsUnited, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to presenting a positive image of the gay and lesbian community through the diverse performing and fine arts. ArtsUnited collects and purchases art books of all disciplines and donates them to children’s facilities to promote the arts and arts education.
