South Florida's chance to stand up against Amendment 8

Free Speech
Rally to Oppose Amendment 8
Saturday, September 29th
1:00pm
Jim Ward Community Center
301 NW 46th Ave.
Plantation, FL 33317

In just seven weeks, the people of Florida will vote on an amendment that would remove the state’s 107-year-old constitutional protection against taxpayer funding of religious activities. Amendment 8, the misleadingly-called “Religious Freedom Amendment,” would blur the line separating church and state and create a constitutional entitlement for any entity calling itself a religion to receive any government benefit.
Join us on Saturday, September 29th for a rally against Amendment 8 to oppose this threat to religious freedom.
Join your fellow civil libertarians in support of real religious freedom, not what Amendment 8 would bring. Religion can only truly be free when it's free of government entanglement. Speakers include:
  • Howard Simon, Executive Director of the ACLU of Florida
  • Rep. Perry E. Thurston Jr., incoming Minority Leader of the Florida House of Representatives
  • Maureen S. Dinnen, Broward County School Board
  • Howard Finkelstein, Broward County Public Defender
  • David Barkey, Religious Freedom Counsel of the Anti-Defamation League
The rally is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be available.
Thank you for standing with us in support of freedom. We look forward to seeing you on the 29th!
