STATEMENT FROM DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ ON DONALD TRUMP’S DISTURBING ANTI-SEMITIC PATTERNS

DWS: “I am outraged and am more determined than ever to mobilize the Jewish community and ensure that Donald Trump, hatemonger, gets nowhere near the White House and that his bid is stopped in its tracks right here in South Florida.”

“In the past day, right in South Florida, Donald Trump has referred to Hillary Clinton’s ‘meeting in secret with bankers to plot world domination.’ It is difficult to believe that last statement is no more than Trump vitriol and paranoia as his campaign implodes. I am especially alarmed by the parallels between his comments and the dangerous propaganda pushed during the last century by enemies of the Jewish community who referred directly to such meetings and wild theories in influential anti-Semitic works such as The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion and The International Jew: The World's Foremost Problem.

She continued, “Trump and his campaign's comments, social media posts and innuendo are not so much a dog whistle but a bullhorn of anti-Jewish sentiment. This fits into a disturbing pattern of anti-Semitism that the Trump campaign has tolerated and promoted for months, from citing and retweeting the works of anti-Semitic leaders and imagery to refusal to condemn prominent anti-Semitic supporters. The candidate - and his campaign staff - should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. It’s also right in line with fringe ultra-right-wing philosophies pushed by Breitbart, the so-called alt-right media organization helming the Trump campaign in its final days.  As the first Jewish woman elected to represent Florida in Congress, I am outraged and am more determined than ever to mobilize the Jewish community and ensure that Donald Trump, hatemonger, gets nowhere near the White House and that his bid is stopped in its tracks right here in South Florida.”
