Relatives of the woman who has been identified as the shooter at YouTube’s headquarters
on Tuesday have claimed they told police about her hatred of the company and warned them “she might do something.” Police said Nasim Najafi Aghdam injured three people in the attack, with one man still in critical condition, before reportedly turning the gun on herself. Her family has told journalists about her
vendetta against the company, which she believed had purposefully attempted to suppress her video posts, causing her to lose traffic and revenue. Aghdam’s brother told a local ABC affiliate that his family reported her missing over the weekend and grew concerned when police told her that her vehicle had been spotted 30 miles from YouTube HQ. “I Googled ‘Mountain View’ and it was close to YouTube headquarters, and she had a problem with YouTube,” he said. “I called that cop again and told him there’s a reason she went all the way from San Diego to there, so she might do something. So they didn’t do anything, and she got killed... and three or four more people got hurt."
