Deutch Calls for Trump to Cancel Putin Meeting

After Special Counsel Robert Mueller issued indictments against 12 Russian intelligence officials for their interference in our 2016 election, and in advance of President Trump's meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22), a senior member of both the House Foreign Affairs Committee and House Judiciary Committee, issued this statement:

"A dozen Russian intelligence officials have been indicted. After Russia invaded Ukraine. After Russia backed Assad as he slaughtered more than half a million Syrians. After Russia interfered in the 2016 election. And as Russia sows discord throughout the world.

"Trump believes Putin and doubts our own intelligence community. He praises Putin while denigrating our allies. And he wants to meet face-to-face with Putin without a single senior, skilled American foreign policy or national security official with him.

"If any doubt remained, today’s indictments eliminate it. The President should cancel the meeting."
