Broward League of Cities 2014 Gala Dinner

The Broward League of Cities 2014 Installation Gala Dinner was held on May 10, at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida. The event included the fond farewell to the 2013 Board of Directors and Alternates, and President, and the installation of the 2014 Board of Directors, Alternates and President. Outgoing President Susan Starkey, of the Town of Davie, oversaw the ceremony until the installation of the new president, Hollywood’s Vice Mayor Patricia Asseff. The ceremony also included the presentation of colors by the City of Hollywood Police Department Honor Guard, the singing of the National Anthem by Melanie Martin of McArthur High School, the invocation by Rev. Thomas O’Dwyer, Pastor of the Church of the Little Flower. Attorney Sam Goren installed the new Board, Alternates and President. Other guests at the ceremony included Senator Eleanor Sobel, and County Commission Martin Kiar. Kiar read a proclamation from the Board of County Commissioners. Sobel offered her own warm praise for Asseff, who had been a friend for many years.
