Annette Taddeo Kicks Off 2016 District 26 Campaign

Former Miami-Dade Democratic Party Chairwoman Annette Taddeo, best known for being former Gov. Charlie Crist’s running mate on the 2014 Democratic gubernatorial ticket, is running against U.S. Rep. Carlos Curbelo, R-Fla.

In recent years, the South Florida district, currently represented by Curbelo, has proven to be very competitive. Democrat Joe Garcia defeated scandal-plagued U.S. Rep. David Rivera, R-Fla., in 2012. But Garcia was hurt by scandal and a series of gaffes which helped Curbelo flip the seat back to the Republicans in 2014 even as Crist carried the district over Gov. Rick Scott.

The reception was at the home of Marie and Dr. Kansky Delisma:

The highlight of Taddeo speech, was when she explained why she is running, she
related a story from her campaign fro the Governor;s race in 2014, when she was giving a speech at a local community college and, after the speech she did a question session, after a young man came up to here and said can I ask you something? I was too embarrassed to ask in front of everybody, Taddeo, responded of course you can ask me anything, the young man responded, you said you want to serve everybody, and Taddeo, said yes I did, the young man said even me, I am gay, Taddeo responded oh! oung man, never be embarrassed to be who you are, I will serve everybody gay, black and hispanic, everybody.
(sic) story has been related by the author and may not be word for word
