Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22) announced the awarding of grants to two South Florida cities from the National Park Service's Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF). |
The City of Margate will receive a grant of $200,000 for the Firefighters Park to renovate existing basketball and tennis courts, restrooms, and picnic facilities, and to construct a covered playground, exercise trail, and additional picnic shelter.
The City of Oakland Park will receive a grant of $200,000 for the Collins Park Splashpad and Playground to renovate a baseball field, basketball court, and parking area, to build an ADA-accessible splash pad/water playground, and to install a picnic facility, multi-purpose trail, and landscaping.
According to the National Park Service: "The LWCF State & Local Assistance Program provides matching grants for local and state park projects outside national park boundaries. LWCF grants are locally determined and competed at the state level through a process designed and managed by our state partners. These grants help build and protect a "seamless system of parks" from back-yard to back-country."
