Broward school board lifts ban: Political campaigns count for student volunteer hours

Past school boards agreed with Parks and had banned political participation since the inception of mandatory community service hours in 1999. Broward now requires more such hours from students than any other school district in Florida. Starting this year, Palm Beach County will require 20 hours from their seniors.
