The Division of Elections said Friday that Diebold has made the fix on its optical-scan machines that will keep them from being hacked without a trace.
A Florida State University study had found that someone could use a pre-programmed computer card to swap votes. But now the Division of Elections says that's been fixed.
"I am glad that we were able to work with Diebold and that they agreed to respond to the SAIT report expeditiously to correct this security issue," said Secretary of State Kurt Browning. "While I do not believe that conditions exist in an election day environment for the machines to be compromised, it is my responsibility to take every possible precaution to ensure that Florida voting equipment is safe and secure. I am confident that this is the case."
